Natural Drugs and Cures Are the Answers to Chronic Illnesses |
You will never see natural drugs or cures advertised in the media. But, turn to any network commercial television channel and you are guaranteed to see at least one advertisement for a synthetic drug during a commercial break. Big Pharma's (the drug industry) advertising budget literally runs into the billions of dollars. These dollars are well spent on slick, Madison Avenue commercials which soothes the listener with its message. The truth about cholesterol lowering drugs...
The drug commercials are hard to resist. They are so well produced that they seem 100 percent innocent. The commercials will have you believing that only drugs provide the answer for any medical problem. However, natural drugs and not synthetic ones promote long-term health.

The shocking upswing in unintended deaths from prescription medication!
This quote was taken from an article entitled Legal Drugs Kill, Too. This article also mentioned the now infamous drug, Vioxx. Vioxx was on the market for 5 years. It has been estimated that between 88,000 and 139,000 heart attacks and strokes were related to the drug's use. Neither Big Pharma nor the FDA is your friend. And natural substances which cannot be patented will never be given the green light.

Human nature being what it is, the very drugs consumers see advertised over and over again on TV ar the ones they ask their doctors for. They know absolutely nothing of natural drugs. This is why TV commercials are so important for the drug industry. Big Pharma has very deep pockets to promote their prescription and nonprescription drugs.
The consumer, despite the required disclaimer of possible side effects, feels that these synthetic drugs must be safe. After all, if they were dangerous, the government wouldm't allow them to be advertised. The tragedy with Vioxx should be a wake-up call for all of us. Safety for the consumer is not Big Pharma's, or the FDA's, major concern.
As an example of drug side effects, let's take a look at high blood pressure medication. Side effects include loss of libido, insomnia, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, arrhythmia, severe depression, disorientation, memory loss, liver failure, esophagitis, and fatal angioedema. Because of these crippling side effects, 40% of the patients prescribed this medication stop taking it.
All drugs advertised by the pharmaceutical industry are synthetic, and have been sanctioned by the FDA. Natural drugs and cures are banned. Synthetic drugs are chemical concoctions formulated in a laboratory, and are not recognized by the body. This is the reason these drugs cause the side effects they do.
Drugs are never formulated to cure anyone of anything. They are manufactured to simply 'mask' the sympton of an underlying problem. For instance, cancer has a cause. Whether it it's a diet high in refined carbohydrates or having an unbalanced omega-6/omega-3 fatty acid intake, or any number of other possible causes.
There is a conspiracy in America preventing natural drugs and cures from becoming public knowledge, and accessible. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in partnership with Big Pharma, the pharmaceutical industry, have made it illegal for any vitamin or supplement to claim to be able to heal, cure, or prevent any disease.
In the early 1990s Dr. Jeffrey Wigand exposed the hidden secrets of the tobacco industry. Back then it was a 50 billion dollar a year business. Dr. Wigand had been hired by the Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company to find a safer cigarette. Brown & Williamson was the third largest cigarette company behind Philip Morris and R. J. Reynolds.
Dr. Wigand�s testimony revealed that the CEOs of the major tobacco companies lied to Congress when they testified that they did not know of the addictive nature of nicotine. As a matter of fact, addictiveness was their objective. Cigarettes were a delivery device for nicotine.
The story of Dr. Wigand and Big Tobacco was dramatized in a movie named The Insider (1999). Russell Crowe portrayed Dr. Jeffrey Wigand. Big Tobacco was driven by one motive and one motive only�the profit motive!
The 21st century is seeing the same thing as the 90s. Only this time it is the pharmaceutical companies who are the culprits. The drug industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. I think this industry is worse than Big Tobacco because we are conditioned to believe that prescription and nonprescription drugs are not only necessary, but that there are no natural drugs and cures.
Why do I compare the pharmaceutical industry to the tobacco industry of the early 90s? Because the pharmaceutical industry like the tobacco industry, is profit driven. They know the dangers of their drugs just like the tobacco industry knew the dangers of nicotine. They just don�t care about your health.
The pharmaceutical industry doesn't want to find cures for any health problem. A cure would erode away their enormous profits. I might as well tell you from the outset that I don�t believe in drugs (those synthetic products made by the pharmaceutical industry). I believe that if you do develop some medical condition, there are natural remedies (natural drugs) which can be used as alternatives.
Pharmaceuticals: Deadly Side Effects and High Cost
One study found that one of the major causes of falls in nursing homes is the side effects caused by medications.
Another study found that 97% of nursing home patients take at least one drug, with 17% taking 5 or more!
Yet another study found that many drugs can cause Parkinson's disease-like symptoms and concluded that "drug-induced parkinsonism is frequent."
Finally, another study listed 22 different categories of drugs that can cause symptoms that mimic Alzheimer's disease...plus 14 different over-the-counter drugs that can cause these symptoms!
The International Journal of Gynecological Cancer published an article on the breast cancer drug Tamoxiten. It seems that this cancer drug treatment results in an increased risk of uterine cancer incidence and mortality.
Cancer drug costs escalated by almost 16 percent in 2006; other prescription drug costs averaged a 3 percent increase. Note the following cancer drug costs and side effects:
Sunlight, one of many forms of natural drugs, is necessary for good health. A little known fact is that essential fatty acids (EFAs) allow the body to store light energy from the sun. Light consists of tiny particles known as photons. When your body has enough EFAs such as omega-3, photons from the sun will travel through the skin and be stored.

The FDA's ties are also obvious in that they not only cater to Big Pharma, but they allow dangerous drugs to be marketed. Case in point (and there are literally hundreds of cases) concerns the drug Evista.
Evista was originally approved by the FDA in 1997 to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women; in 1999 it was approved for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Common side effects of Evista include: hot flashes, leg cramps, swelling, flu-like symptoms, joint pain, and sweating. The FDA itself cautions, "...can cause serious side effects including blood clots in the legs and lungs, and death due to stroke."
You would think that this drug would be pulled off the market. Not so! But what the FDA did do was to seek approval to use Evista for reducing the risk of developing breast cancer. On July 24, 2007 the FDA's Oncology Drugs Advisory Committee sought for, and received approval to use Evista for reducing the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and in women at high risk for breast cancer!
Now there are potentially more women who can be exposed to this dangerous drug. Evista, manufactured by the pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly, had sales of $1.5 billion in 2005. Sales like this is a powerful motivator to seek to expand the drug's market.
This is madness! The patients are running the asylum known as the Food and Drug Administration!

Besides the numerous side effects of pharmaceutical drugs, many also deplete the body of essential nutrients. Below are listed medical problems, the drugs used to treat them, some common drugs, and the nutrients that are depleted by those drugs.
Cholesterol: Lipitor, Zocor, etc. Nutrient compromised: Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). Found in organ meats such as heart, liver, and kidney; also can be found in beef, sardines, mackerel, peanuts.

Here is an amazing story of how one woman has managed to have her diabetes completely cured. June was 56-year-old and dependent on insulin and oral prescription medications for nine years.
June agreed to a new natural treatment proposed by an alternative doctor. Within a period of six weeks not only did she stop taking insulin, but was able to come off another prescription drug too. It costs the average diabetic approximately $10,000 a year for treatment.
Although there are many natural herbs that cure diabetes, the following seven are among the best, and can be found in one formulation. Fenugreek can cause urinary glucose levels to drop 54 percent. This is the test usually used by doctors to identify diabetics. A new process has been devised to extract the active ingredient from fenugreek.
Gymnema sylvestre is known in India as the sugar destroyer. The plant contains a protein that takes away the craving for sugar, and may prevent a person from digesting some of the sugar which has been consumed. Gymnema seems to regenerate pancreas cells too.
In an 18-month study, most test participants were able to lower their medication dosages while others were able to stop taking their diabetes drugs altogether. No one reported any side effects.
In a 65-day trial of konjac mannan, 72 patients who were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes saw their fasting blood sugar levels drop an average of 51.8 percent. Their levels after eating had fallen 84.6 percent!
In clinical research, nopal cactus, better known as prickly pear cactus, caused diabetics to have a 10 to 20 percent drop in blood sugar levels. Banana leaf extract has been shown to lower blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetics by up to 30 percent.
Bitter melon has a least three ingredients that influence blood sugar. Clinical trials show that it is effective for managing glucose levels. A cinnamon extract called Cinnulin PF makes the insulin receptor sites on individual body cells more receptive.
All of these ingredients have been combined into a single product. Diabetic patient results thus far are: (1) fasting blood sugar levels fell an average of 51.8 percent in 65 days (2) fasting blood sugar dropped more than 50 percent; levels after eating dropped an average of 84.6 percent-all in a little over 2 months (3) large declines in LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and (4) an average loss in weight of 5.5 pounds.
Nutrients to Lower Blood Sugar Naturally
Diabetics are two to four times more likely to die of a heart attack or have a stroke; cardiovascular disease is the cause of death in 80% of diabetics who die prematurely. The primary cause of kidney disease is diabetes.
CoQ10 (Co-enzyme Q10). This nutrient can lower blood sugar (glucose) in diabetics by 30%. It also reduces ketone bodies (potentially toxic chemicals produced by the body when there is an insulin shortage) by as much as 30% to 59%. CoQ10 is an antioxidant, increases cellular energy, reduces toxic iron levels in cells, and protects the heart and brain.
Chromium. Low chromium levels result in fallen HDL levels, the development of insulin resistance, and the rising of triglycerides and cholesterol levels. Supplementation with chromium improves insulin receptor function and reduces glycation products (hemoglobin A1C.) Most people who took chromium experienced glucose and cholesterol levels returning to normal.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Not only does omega-3 lower the risk of stroke and heart attacks, but it converts harmful VLDL (very low density lipoproteins) into LDL.
Aged Garlic Extract. Improves the body's immune system and raises good cholesterol (HDL) while lowering total cholesterol.
Flavonoids. Diabetics have too many free radicals in their bodies. Flavonoids from vegetables have plenty of free radical neutralizing antioxidants. Especially effective are quercetin, hesperidin, curcumin, luteolin, proanthocyanidin, naringenin, catechins, green tea extract, and artichoke extract.
Alpha-Lipoic Acid. One of the strongest and most versatile antioxidants in the body. Every cell and tissue has it. Alpha-lipoic acid is very effective in lowering blood sugar and preventing diabetic complications--especially cardiovascular and neurological problems. It also strengthens immunity, improves energy in cells, protects brain cells against excitotoxicity, and removes excess iron and other toxic metals. The statin drugs and diabetes connection
Felix Hoffmann's father suffered from arthritis and was being treated with sodium salicylate for it. Unfortunately sodium salicylate produced severe side effects.
Being a chemist employed at Farbenfabriken Friedrich Bayer in Germany, Felix had the knowledge and was in position to do something to help his father. He began experimenting with salicylic acid with the purpose of reducing its side effects and at the same time preserving its inflammation-fighting properties.
Felix Hoffman succeeded in perfecting the formula in 1897. It consisted of acetylsalicylic acid which Bayer began marketing in 1899 under the trade name Aspirin.
Aspirin is no longer taken simply to get rid of headaches. It has been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) to reduce the risk of: (1) a second stroke in people who have already had one ischemic stroke caused by blockage in a blood vessel that supplies the brain, or a transient ischemic attack, a ministroke (2) a second heart attack in people who have already had one or have unstable angina, chest pain caused by unpredictable impairment of blood flow to the heart (3) death in people having a heart attack or (4) heart attack in people who have stable angina, predictable chest pain caused by impaired blood flow to the heart, such as after exercise.
Millions are being prescribed aspirin by their doctors to prevent heart and artery disease. However aspirin has its down side. It is harsh on the stomach causing naseau and heartburn and even bleeding ulcers.
In randomized clinical trials, 5,011 seniors with a mean age of 72 years and followed for a mean of 4.2 years showed a 4-fold increase in hemorrhagic stroke and a 1.6 to 1.8-fold increase in ischemic stroke. The majority of the seniors, 58 percent, were women.
A new study in March, 2007 revealed that consistent aspirin and other painkiller use may boost blood pressure in men. Good Morning America aired a report by ABC Medical Editor Dr. Tim Johnson which noted that high doses of these painkillers causes the body to retain salt.
Medical researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School followed over 16,000 middle-aged men who had no history of high blood pressure. When aspirin intake was singled out after four years, those who took it six to seven days every week increased high blood pressure risk by 28 percent.

Many people take aspirin in order to avoid having a stroke. But it has been estimated that maybe in the neighborhood of 60 percent who do so are aspirin-resistant. Instead of protecting from a stroke event, aspirin increases the risk.
The latest study concerning aspirin resistance involved 2,930 patients. Of this number, 810 or 28 percent were resistant. These patients were four times more likely to experience a cardiovascular event such as death, heart attack, or stroke.
Curry, a term encompassing a variety of South Asian and Southeast Asian spicy dishes, contains turmeric, a spice. This spice contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory. Curcumin works like Cox-2 inhibitors which reduce the Cox-2 enzyme which causes the pain and swelling of arthritis.
A small clinical trial in 2006 conducted by researchers at John Hopkins University School of Medicine suggests that curcumin can help shrink precancerous lesions (colon polyps) when taken with a small amount of quercetin. The number of polyps dropped more than 60 percent while those remaining shrank over 50 percent.
The Journal of Alzheimer's Disease published a 2006 study which found that curcumin helps get rid of the plaques which characterize Alzheimer's disease.
Rosemary is useful in preventing significant amounts of the carcinogen HCA (heterocyclic amines) from forming when meat is fried, broiled, grilled, or barbequed at high temperatures. Rosemary extract has carnosol and rosemarinic acid, two strong antioxidants which destroy the HCAs. This is according to Kansas State University researchers.
Meats which are to undergo high temperature cooking should be marinated in any spice mix which contains rosemary along with one or more of the following spices: thyme, oregano, basil, garlic, onion, or parsley.
According to animal studies conducted by researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, rosemary extract also helps to prevent carcinogens that enter the body from binding with DNA. This is the first step in tumor formation.
Ginger is good for preventing nausea, and upset stomachs caused by pregnancy, motion sickness, and chemotherapy. In addition, ginger helps to regulate blood flow which may lower blood pressure. It might also reduce arthritis pain and cancer risk.
The anti-inflammatory properties of ginger helped to kill ovarian cancer cells as well as--or even better than--traditional chemotherapy. This was discovered in a 2006 study conducted by the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Reduce stress by eating holy basil. Several studies reveal that holy basil is effective at reducing stress by increasing adrenaline and noradrenaline, and decreasing serotonin.
St. John's Wort has been confirmed by research to relieve mild to moderate depression and anxiety as effectively as many drugs but without the side effects. Since St. John's wort has melatonin (a hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles) and increases the body's melatonin, sleep comes easily.

Garlic is a powerful anti-cancer herb. A research review in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition states that high consumption of garlic reduced the rates of ovarian, colorectal, and other cancers. A 2006 Japanese clinical trial revealed that people with a history of colon polyps saw a reduction in the size and number of precancerous growths after taking aged garlic extract supplements for a year.
Garlic may also give cardiovascular benefits as well as helping to prevent strokes by slowing arterial blockages. The product used in many garlic studies was Kyolic aged garlic extract capsules (1,000 mg.)

L-carnosine or carnosine is a dipeptide composed of the amino acids beta-alanine and L-histidine. It is one of the most powerful antioxidants known to man. Most commercial sunscreens contain carcinogens (cancer-causing agents) like homo-salate and methoxicinnamate. They should be avoided. As a matter of fact, skin protection should begin on the inside.
In a recent study, researchers exposed a group of people to a controlled amount of solar-type radiation. They then gave half of them a cocoa drink rich in bioflavonoids. The other half was given a 'fake' cocoa drink with little nutritional value.
The cocoa with the bioflavonoids contained 61 mg of a flavonoid called epicatechin and 20 mg of another called catechin. The fake cocoa had less than 10% of these amounts.
The group which was given the bioflavonoid rich drink experienced a 15-25% reduction in UV-induced (ultra-violet) redness. Also, this group had greater skin thickness, increased skin hydration, increased blood flow, and less skin roughness than the other group.
Fruits and vegetables are loaded with bioflavonoids. People who eat lots of fruits and veggies have healthy skin. Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Add green tea and cocoa too.
Cataracts is the name for an eye condition in which a filmy deposit is produced that can ultimately lead to blindness. It affects over 20 million Americans. The standard treatment for cataracts is surgery.
But a double-blind placebo study which was conducted in Italy halted the progression of cataracts in 97% of the participants tested. They were given a combination of bilberry and vitamin E. The recommended dosage is 360 milligrams of bilberry and 100 milligrams of vitamin E.
British fighter pilots used bilberry herb or ate the jam because they found out that it enabled them to see better at night. Bilberry has also been discovered to strengthen capillaries in the eye and improve circulation.
In addition to people diagnosed with early stage cataracts, bilberry can be effectively used to combat eye fatigue by people who read a lot, work at a computer, or do a lot of close-up work. Bilberry can be purchased at any health food store.

Peripheral artery disease is a condition in which fatty deposits build in the arteries and restrict blood flow. Most commonly, PAD minimizes blood flow to the legs causing pain and numbness. It restricts the ability to walk and in extreme cases can lead to amputation. PAD develops when fatty deposits build up in the inner linings of artery walls, choking blood flow and oxygen to the legs, feet, arms and other places.
Researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York discovered that people with low levels of vitamin D in their blood experience an increased risk of developing peripheral artery disease. The findings were based on a United States government survey of 4,839 adults who had their vitamin D levels measured, and underwent a screening for PAD to assess blood flow in their legs.
"Participants in the survey who had the lowest vitamin D levels had a much higher prevalence of peripheral artery disease," said Dr. Michal Melamed, lead researcher.
According to study results, people in the lowest 25 percent of vitamin D levels were 80 percent more likely to have PAD than those in the highest 25 percent.
Cigarette smoking is the number cause of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD.) Smoking causes plaque to accumulate in the artery walls and increases the formation of leg artery blockages. Smoking even a half a pack of cigarettes a day increases the likelihood of developing PAD by 30 to 50 percent!

New research is emerging challenging the commonly accepted belief that migraines are due to vascular changes in the brain followed by the dilation and constriction of blood vessels. This research is pointing to migraines being neurological in origin.

Strokes are the third leading cause of death among Americans after cancer and heart disease. There are two types of strokes: ischemic and hemorrhagic.
Ischemic stokes are caused by blood vessels which are blocked. The blockage itself is due to atherosclerosis, or hardening on the arteries. Hemorrhagic strokes are the result of weak brain blood vessels.
Many times a stroke will have no warning sign. When signs do occur, many times it goes unnoticed. These signs may be neurological symptoms such as sudden numbness on one side of the face, or in an arm. There may be other brief signs like: dizzy spells, momentary confusion, heaviness in an arm or a leg, or problems with speech (attempting to say a word or repeating a word over and over.)
Strokes have several high risk factors. These include high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, smoking, migraine headaches, and a poor diet.

According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, approximately 30 percent of American adults suffer from insomnia. Of that percentage, mainly the elderly and women are affected.
The Associated Professional Sleep Societies tells us that anxiety is the predominant reason for people developing insomnia. Aerobic or weight training can substantially reduce the level of anxiety. Their study revealed that participants fell asleep 54 percent faster and reduced their wake time by 36 percent (See also sleep disorders.)
Though not usually life-threatening, kidney stones can be extremely painful. Kidney stones are hard, stone-like objects that are created in the kidneys from calcium and oxalate or calcium and phosphate.
If the stones are small enough, they will pass out of the body through the urine without a person even being aware of them. It is only when the stones become large and get stuck along the urinary tract that excruciating pain results.
Men are more likely to be predisposed to developing kidney stones than women-twice as likely. Rates peak in men in their the 40s to early 50s.
According to the Health Professionals Follow-up Study, men with a family history of kidney stones were two and a half times more likely to develop kidney stones if a parent or sibling had them.
Weight is a factor in the development of kidney stones. Based on 46,000 men in the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study, 94,000 older women in the Nurses' Health Study I, and the 102,000 younger women in the Nurses' Health Study II, the greater the weight, the greater the risk of kidney stones.
The two above-mentioned nurses studies also revealed that women who had been diagnosed with diabetes were 30 to 60 percent more likely to develop kidney stones than women who were not diagnosed with it.
Researchers say that kidney stones may be a sign of a much greater medical problem. People who develop kidney stones have a greater risk of developing high blood pressure later on. They also have a greater likelihood of suffering from osteoporosis.
Chances of developing kidney stones are greater if a person doesn't drink enough water. The crystals form when a person's urine becomes too concentrated.

Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world (AMD [age-related macular Degeneration] is the leading cause of blindness for people over 50 years of age.) Four million Americans have been estimated to have glaucoma with half that number not even realizing it.
Although not fully understood, glaucoma is related to increasing pressure in the eye. The pressure originates from the buildup of aqueous humor, the watery fluid naturally present in the eye.

Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system-the brain and the spinal cord. Specifically, multiple sclerosis targets the 'white matter' which is composed of nerve fibers. It is these nerve fibers which communicates or transmits signals within the central nervous system and to nerves elsewhere in the body.
Nerves are protected by a an insulating sheath known as myelin. In those affected by multiple sclerosis, damaged areas known as lesions or plaque appear in seemingly random spots on the white matter. Where a lesion exists, myelin is lost.
A study was just published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in which cats developed severe neurological symptoms resulting from a degradation of myelin. Myelin assists in the conduction of nerve signals. So when it is damaged, feeling, movement, and thinking can be affected.
The neurological problems experienced by the cats was caused by eating irradiated food. As a matter of fact, the cats were in good health until being fed the 'tainted' food. And surprisingly, they began to heal after the irradiated food was removed from their diet.
The researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison who conducted the study did so because of reports of pregnant cats coming down with a 'mysterious' illness. Some commercial company was testing various diets on the cats to see how they affected growth and development. Unknown to the company, the food had been irradiated.
Irradiation of food for animals and humans has been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration.) It involves exposing food to gamma rays or electron beams in order to kill bacteria.
The affected cats began exhibiting vision loss, paralysis, and trouble moving. "After being on the diet for three to four months, the pregnant cats started to develop progressive neurological disease," said Ian Duncan, a professor of medical sciences at the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine and an authority on demyelinating diseases.
Although the researchers did not necessarily see a link between the multiple sclerosis-like symptoms in the cats and irradiated food, it should not be ruled out.

There is a medical mystery blooming in America which has researchers puzzled. The mystery involves celiac disease. The number of people who have developed the disease has skyrocketed in recent decades, and deaths have quadrupled.
Celiac disease makes people who have it intolerant to gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. Gluten damages the small intestine making it impossible for the body to properly absorb nutrients from food.
Presently, over two million Americans are victimized by celiac disease. It roughly affects one in every 100 Americans. Youth today are 4.5 times as likely to develop celiac disease than young people growing up in the mid twentieth century.

People with celiac disease have their villi, finger-like projections on the intestine, attacked by their own immune system. This attack is triggered by gluten.
Celiac disease symptoms in children include abdominal bloating and pain, chronic diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, foul-smelling and fatty stools, and weight loss. Adult symptoms include unexplained iron-deficiency anemia, fatigue, bone or joint pain, arthritis, unexplained infertility, loss of teeth, depression or anxiety, in addition to those experienced by children.
It is interesting to note that the sources of gluten are more than they were 50 years ago. Back then it was confined to food sources. But now gluten can be found in medicines, lip balm, and vitamins.
